Ervin, Hoyt crowned Mr. and Miss Southwest
Tennessee Ervin, a finance major from Festus, and Ky'Lee Hoyt, an elementary education major from Lebanon, won the titles of Mr. and Miss Southwest at the annual pageant on Friday, March 5, at 91勛圖厙.

91勛圖厙 continues the tradition of honoring one male and one female student each year at the annual Mr. and Miss Southwest Pageant, which takes place this year at 7 p.m. Friday, March 5, in Pike Auditorium on the SBU campus.

SBU awards honorary doctorates to recognize outstanding individuals who have made significant contributions to society and to Kingdom work.
Making a national impact
When he was in high school, Evan Kirksey was shy - "kind of nerdy and kind of introverted," he says. To help him overcome his shyness, Evan's father, Daren '87, '89, urged him to join speech and debate at Willard High School.
A life of service, mission and inspiration
In preparation for the mission field, Janice Sartin '64 earned her associate of arts degree from Southwest Baptist College, a BS in elementary education from then-Southwest Missouri State University, a master's in social work from Tulane University and a master's in religious education from New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary. But, God had other plans for "Ms. Janice."
